Spend the Weekend with DLIH: October 1st – October 2nd; Thurs. October 6th September 30, 2011Posted by doinglaundryinheels in Around NYC, Causes, Weekend with DLIH, Women.
It’s Friday, time to kick up our skirts and leave those briefcases to collect some weekend dust! What’s hot in heels this weekend? Follow the cool treasure map of DLIH suggestions below for a weekend Doing Laundry in Heels style! (You might just spot SK in the flesh if you’re lucky!)
Saturday, October 1st:
Join women from all around the world (…and men too!) in putting their foot down against rape. Slut Walk NYC takes place this Saturday, starting at Union Square at noon. This stand against judging women for what they wear originated when someone said that a woman dressed some-what provocatively was “asking for it”. Find the entire story and more info here. No matter who you are, no matter how you dress or act, no one ever has the right to violate you.
Sunday, October 2nd:
Okay…so raise your hand if you like really great beer?…and now, raise your hand if you love New York? Well, good because it’s baaaaack! Octoberfest is here again and Lexington avenue is hosting the fiesta of booze. You’ll be able to find different events and gatherings all over this weekend, but the big Manhattan party is happening right here. Raise your glass to fall but don’t forget to drink smart!
*Thursday, October 6th:*
On the topic of causes and events, get your tickets early for the 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Fundraiser! This stunning event is more than just an excuse to get your best heels and rock a cocktail dress, the night will be honoring cancer survivor and author of Why I Wore Lipstick to my Mastectomy, Geralyn Lucas, and others. There will be drinks, appetizers and a live tattoo station! Not to mention, proceeds will go to the Dubin Breast Center. You can get tickets and find details about the event on their website.
…and always remember, it’s not what you do (this weekend), it’s how you do it! Keep it classy!
Have an event coming up you’d like to see on Spend the Weekend with DLIH! Email firstname.lastname@example.org with details.
