Have Your Cake and Eat It Too – Saturday, May 5th and Sunday May 6th May 3, 2012Posted by doinglaundryinheels in Around NYC, Cooking, Fashion/Clothes, Shopping, Weekend with DLIH.
It’s been a while since Weekend with DLIH has slipped it’s sassy Saturday shoes on, but when we heard about this upcoming event, we couldn’t reisist the tasssstey plug!
How you feel about cakes? Lots of cakes? Cakes of all shapes, sizes, flavors, and colors? Cakes that bring the lower east side together for a giant block party of cake tasting crazy?! If you dont feel intrigued about any of the above you have serious childhood trauma but should also change your mind because the Henry Street Settlement is holding a cake contest in honor of the 145 birthday of their Founder Lillian Ward on Sunday, May 6th! Yes, that’s right, an old school block party with cakes to feed the entire tri-state area! (Okay…maybe we’re getting a little over excited here but there’s nothing boring about cake!). If you’re a professional baker or just enjoy the occasional flour-power in your kitchen, this contest is for you! There is a max on participants and pre-registration is required so please visit this page to learn about the rules and how to sign-up! Not a baker? No problem! Stop by Sunday, May 6th for some tea and delights at the Henry Street Settlement, located at 265 Henry Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan!
Trying to stay away from the sweet-tooth? or any tooth at all??? DLIH hears your cries! There’s more to this weekend then the tastes of frosting, Crafts on Coloumbus is back yet again. Both Saturday and Sunday all day! A DLIH favorite involving minimal eats but maximum art, jewelry, bags, watches, crafts and more! Find more info on their webpage here if designer flea markets near the park are your kind of thing!
